Default Msd everything won't start

Just installed the msd distributor msd 6A ignition and msd coil. Also msd wires. Car will start warm but not cold. Also it acts like there is a timing issue or miss fire. Anyone have any ideas what could be going on. I had to crank and crank and crank tell it finally came to life. Once she was warm she fired every time but still felt like there was a miss fire.

Check the engine coolant temperature sensor on the front of the water pump. Sounds like it could be disconnected or defective. When that happens, the pcm thinks it is 40 degrees below zero and sprays a huge amount of fuel into the engine at startup. Does it start easier if you hold the accelerator pedal to the floor until it starts?

It dieseled on me a few times I adjusted the timing on the msd distributer then it cranked for like 20 sec and fired up. I'll check that. I have a meizer electric water pump on there. Maybe something went bad in the change over to that.

checked the connection to the water pump for the coolant temp sensor. its plugged in and when i do get it to start it runs the gauge up and down also the fans kick on when needed.
when i put the msd distributor on and tried to fire the car it would not start. i then hooked up the msd 6a and it fired no problem. no it just cranks and has no fire. when i hook up a spare plug to one of the plug wires i have spark.

i am going to say the opti does not like the msd box. re check and make sure you got all the connections correct and in the proper places. the temp sensor on the water pump is for the computer. temp gauge sensor is on the head by the #1 spark plug. to test the temp sensor look here 4th Gen LT1 F-body Tech Articles

Dumb question but isn't the opti in the msd distributor? The car would only start with the msd 6a box a couple days ago drove the car home and now it won't start. Found the #8 injector was in plugged causing the misfire but still not sure why it won't start. Thinking about pulling the msd distributor and running a stock one.

ok sorry, mis read your post. pick up a gm injector noid light and make sure the injectors are firing. it may be the computer is not being told by the opti or box that the engine is turning over.

check your under hood fuses, injector fuse may be blown. some 4th gens have two fuses and some have one.

Fuses are good I checked them first thing. I smell gas when it cranks. I'm thinking it could be that msd distributor
