motor takin out.

RE: motor takin out.
Ya know, it would be usefull if you would give more details about the car, like, what car it is. And what motor is in it. Now, judging by the name you post under, you've got a 4th gen, and it's got horendous cowl overlap on the motor, and while I have never pulled one of those motors, it sure looks like it would be that, or remove the front end of the car completely. In any case, you'll need to remove the hood, not just lift it.

I took my motor out the top. I fabricated a bracket with two pieces of angle iron, and drilled 3 holes in each of them. I tightened this to the intake bolt holes with the intake bolts, and my friend welded a brace between them, we had a chain hoist to move it upand a come along to move the engine forward. We turned and twisted it out. It was not horribly hard, but we broke a sensor, and the worst part is getting it past that plastic part on the cowl. We bent it a little, but it went back to its original shape. Probably took about 15-20 minutes.Seems to me like it would be harder to take it out the bottom, and unhook all that suspension stuff, but I never did it that way so I dont know.

at the dealership and at the speed shop we have a rack for taking the motor out of these cars we use a car hoist lower the car till it sits slightly on the rack. remove the exhaust unhook the sensor from the motor and computer get it out of the way .unbolt the suspension at the top of the fenders undo the uper balljoints un do the steering collum undo transmition crossmember and slowly lift the car up and roll the motor, trans, and suspension into the disasembly room thats the fastest and the right way to remove the 4th gen motor and trans and was the way it was put in at the factory but if you dont have access get some wood blocks and a forklift ive seen it done that way too[sm=yikesomg.gif] (thanks to a few of my redneck buddies after blowing the engine and wanting it running for the weekend and couldent wait till the following week to get it to the shop)
