It's high because it's Snap-On and not Crapsman or MATCO or something like that. Good tools cost monies...and it comes with a lifetime warranty, if it ever breaks, take it to a Snap-On truck and they'll replace it. I broke the shank off a 3/8" drive ratchet (ya, I'm a little guy, not quite sure how I managed that, but suspension work can be a b*tch), they replaced the whole mechanism right there in the truck on the spot, no questions asked...
