Default LT1 wont start HELP

Alright, i have a 97 z-28. I just had the distributor, plug wires, water pump, and all the coolant hoses replaced. As far as upgrades are concerned it has a bbk t/b and edelbrock headers. Today when i went to start it, i lost signal from the battery. I konw it needs new cables, and i have a new negative, but even when it got a signal, it would just crank. I could feel it fire a little bit at random intervals but nothing substantial. After about ten minutes of trying, it started up and i was able to drive away. I was wondering what could cause these kinds of problems. If i move the negative cable it will lose signal sometimes but if i jiggle it a little bit it gets it right back. I will replace the negative cable before i drive anywhere again, but also i was wonderin if snow melting on the hood could drip into the engine compartment and onto the distributor. i never let snow get in the engine compartment, but i know that it can drip down into that neighborhood. on that note i still dont think it is the distributor because it doesnt misfire when i drive. Once i got it started i could haul *** again no prob. HELP

you could try cleaning the connectors that go to the battery, abouta month ago i put a new battery and couldnt get it to start and just cleaned the cable ends with soap and water and its been fine, it was just weird the old battery didnt have problems starting when it was dirty, make sure all the spark plug wires areconnected properly and the battery cables are in all the way

Some of the side post batteries have the screw holes in the post drilled too shallow, and the cable bolt bottoms out before the cable is fully tight. If you can wiggle the cable and change things you a have a connection or connector problem.

Negative cable is bolted to engine block, behind AC compressor.

If your cables are corroded, poorthe soda drink coke on them. (with the battery disconnected.) Let it sit there for a while, and wipe it off. Its really nasty stuff. Did you check to make sure all your grounds are tight?
