LT1 swap?
Hi, I am sure you have all seen this question before. I would appreciate any advice. I have a 95 Z28 w/ 5.7 350 LT1 6 speed manual that needs a new engine or rebuild the current one. I feel somewhat comfortable removing and replacing the engine as long as it is basically a swap 1 for 1 no other conversions required, basically a turnkey. I would like to turn this car into a show car somewhere down the road when I have a little more money but am willing to put some $ into the engine to start with. What do you think are good options? Rebuilt the current engine 200,000 miles, it also may have been rebuilt already? Buy a crate engine long block? If a Create engine would be a good option what one? I have seen 383 Stroke? http://www.golenengineservice.com/engines/lt1lt4-engines/lt-long-blocks/383400hp-lt1-long-block/ are standard 350 crate engines swap 1 for 1? Any hepl or advice would be appreciated.

It really depends on the route that you want to go with the car. Golen does some really good work, but their prices are kind of high. It also depends on your level of experience with working on engines. If you can do the work yourself, it would probably be cheaper to to the rebuild yourself.
For example:
Ge this for your internals:
Scat Chevy stroker Kit 350 to 383 from RPM Machine.
Then this for heads and cam:
LT1 LE3 «
And then you get the block machined
Then send the ECU in for a tune by Solomon
That's if you wanted to do a performance build.
But you also have to factor in that when you do engine upgrades, you also have to upgrade your 10 bolt, as that will be the first thing to go.
You have a lot of options and I'm sure that other members will chime in, but if you want to go less expensive and you can do the labor, build the engine yourself. Plus, that makes the show car more impressive, as it will be a custom job.
Good luck and kill Rustanks!!!

its in the range of 3k to get your block stroked to a 383 with splined main bearing at a good shop. 2k for lloyd to do your heads to a le2, port your intake and grind a new cam for your needs, another k for associated stuff, lifters, pushrods, rocker, gaskets, etc. probly more for the tools you just gota have.
