Default LT1 rebuild or crate?

I just bought a 96 Z28, and it runs like crap. There's a whole laundry list of things wrong with the motor. It needs a lot of work.

My question is, should I try to have it rebuilt? or should I just buy a new crate motor? If you suggest the latter, where can I find one for a reasonable price?

I'd say if you can't find a cheap one, buy a crate. You have warranty and a guarantee it'll last, plus can pick whichever horsepower range you want.

i was hoping for maybe more of a complete motor. if i still have to keep adding my own parts and stuff, it's going to get a lot more expensive really quick

REBUILD! punch it .030 over...i'd reuse my stock rods, get forged pistons, reuse my crank and then head and cam that thing for a strong running 355...that's just my opinion
