What does that mean? Were you pouring gas down the throttle body to start the engine?
How much gas was in the oil? Did some come pouring out of the pan drain, or was it just that the oil smelled of gas? Could be your oil was badly diluted, and a change took care of it. If your oil pressure stays within a good range, I wouldn't be as concerned about bearing wear like before.

And Nick, your oil pressure sounds fine, especially considering the miles.

it will drop a little a short time after changing, the oil gets used to operating, and they do drop when warm. mine has a steady 70lbs when cold at an idle and 30 at idle when at operating temp. pull the dipstick out and smell it. make sure your not getting more gas in there.

I recently acquired a 96 z28. the low oil light is on and the pressure seems to be low to me. It rest at about the halfway mark on the gauge and sometimes falls a little below. I was told if I replace the sensor in the pan the light would go away but i'm worried about the pressure as well. The car has 156,288 miles and its run on synthetic oil. Any suggestions???

No, it usually stays above the first line.
