LS1 swap
I'm taking out my LT1 that has 146,xxx miles on it and droping in a LS1 that was pulled out of a 1998 z28. The LS1 engines i know put out way more torque and power than the LT1. I'm also getting the automatic tranny with it and the ECU. My question is, will i need to fabricate or customize anything like the tranny or motor mounts in order to mount the LS1 in my car? Like what else might i need in order to do this?

RE: LS1 swap
You're going to have to do a grip of customization to the mounts/frame. I think the tranny too. Not to mention most of the computer equipment and sensors. Good luck...
The LS1's actually don't put out much more torque than an LT1, especially in the low end, the LT1/4's are low end torque machines.

Are you crazy? You can only spray 150 horsepower on them aluminum cans before they puke! Why would you give up the last cast iron mill GM made for a bunch of melted down soda cans? [:'(]
Whats an extra 200 lbs of block weight when your pushing 500 HP on NOS?
LS1 is not a bad motor mind you, but I like my motors BAD.

- don't forget the lt1 is running iron heads AND block as opposed to the ls1's aluminum head/block combo.. iron is better for the street, less expansion/contraction in the metal and you can push more hp with an iron block because it is stronger, AND on top of all that it's just the nostalgia of an iron block like te 60's and 70's musclecars ya kno? jm .02
