Default low coolant light

i have a 95 z28 camaro i have a 170,000 miles on it i a worried because the low coolant light came on like 3 weeks ago it was low on coolant. i add more coolant to the radiator and the coolant resivoir. today i was driving to work the light came on on. i checked the radiator again it was low. i dont see any leaks anywhere on the car. why is coolant keep dropping like that. oh yeah my camaro is not overheating. the temp gage is fine.

Take a look at the weep hole on the water pump & check for coolant stains. Many pumps start to leak at this point. Check after the engine is fully warmed and turned off. A minor leak won't show while the engine is running, because groves on the pump shaft are designed to push the coolant back while it is turning. Also check for rusted out freezeout plugs on the side of the block. hoses and around hose fittings.

i had the same problem. it turned out to be small cracks in the radiator tanks but they were so small that the coolant dried before dripping off. if this is the case they will soon get big enough to show

The easiest way is to have the system pressure tested. If You have a leak, It will lose pressure. Adding an additive that will dye the coolant so a leak will show up is another method.
