ya man thats exactly what i want, I mean I want it considerably loud, but not like running open headers which is not even an option to me, like you said, I want to be heard coming from pretty far away impressively, I love to be cruising down the road and just listen to the car, not the radio, also mainly i want to turn heads you know ? what do you guys think is the best setup, I've hear slp loudmouth is loud and not loud, mixed messages pretty much, thanks !

 

I have longtube headers with a catless 3" ypipe. through a borla catback. its nice and quiet at idle, but even at idle u can tell its got something going on. then if i get on it it barks. its sweet, a sudden change in pitch between 1/4 and 1/3 throttle. just suddenly starts roaring. dont even have to get on it hard to make a racket.


also, had the opportunity to run open headers recently. now that **** is loud. [&:][>:]

 

thats sweet man, but personally i would love to have quite a growl going on at idle, and then just get louder from there you know ? something along those lines



oh btw, until i get some money saved up for the whole system should i either gut the cat or replace it with a straight pipe? (keep in mind the 96 z's have o2sensors after the cat as well as before)

 

maybe ill upload a video when i get my car back from the shop this afternoon. alot of what u want is in the catback, however, if u want it to sound mean at idle u will need to get rid of cats and get headers, probably LT's.

 

ok man so when i replace my headers there will be no more cat correct?, you said LT headers can you give me a link, or other headers you recommend for performance + sound thanks bro !

 

U are in the lt1 section but ur sig says 3.4L. I dont know about the 3.4L but texas-speed.com sells headers for the lt1

 

lol sorry dude haven't changed it yet i just sold my 3.4 and now have a 96 6 speed, lt1, just sold the 3.4 on tuesday, so im looking for a good exhaust, I just found out my buddy has a hookup where i can get a custom 3" y-back sytem for 150$ going into whatever muffler i want, so what do you recommend ?

 

ah, just read the first post. ok, u can do texas-speed.com, they have some good stuff. im LS1, and I went with pacesetters. i think they make an lt1 header as well. seems to be a good company, worked well for me. try to get a 1 piece y-pipe, mine was in 4 pieces and the extra brackets caused clearance issues that are currently being welded out of existance. This will change your sound alot. most of the sound is actually muffled in the cats. My buddy justtook his catback off his TA, was pretty loud. then went to LT's and put mufflers back on and it was louder.

you wont necessarily lose cats with LT's, ud have to get an off road y-pipe. TSP should sell those too.

for the catback, if u want loud u should go with loudmouths. check youtube for sound clips.
