I know a lot of the time people suggest 'upgrading' to the lt4 timing set, but I can use this one, right?

It's cheaper, and jegs says it fits in lt1 applications. And it's a roller = +++

u should call and see if it will fit under he timing cover. that is a problem with the lt1, the cover is a close fit to make room for the opti. according to tpis the .250 chain they carry will fit. its 410 bucks (billet heat treated steel sprockets) there so if the speed pro is the same it should fit and at way less cost. at less than 60 bucks let me know how it fits if u go with it. still call though and make sure itll go under the cover without issues.

Good call on the timing cover. I'll definitely give 'em a ring.

Yes, 60 bucks is a much better deal than 400! lol

The car goes to the exhaust guy this week, assuming my mufflers get here in time. If not, then next week that gets done, and then the intake goes on, cam goes in, assembly/etc., and labor day weekend she gets fired up!

EDIT: But I should tell you that through my research about '93s, I've found that the timing cover is slightly different on them as compared to all the other years. I'm not sure what the difference is, I just read a quick snippet about it on speeddensity.

Craby, what year is yours?

Well, the time frame has shifted a fair bit. It seems to do that a lot though. :P

The timing set won't work, and it's one of those "How the #$%* did I miss that!?" moments. Look at the picture in the link above, and look at your lt1's cam gear, and you'll notice something is different. Something very important is missing on the one above. So needless to say, this one won't work. :\

But some progress has been made. We took out the old cam, put the new one in, and thus have officially begun the reassembly process!

Update!

The exhaust is done, full 3 inch SS tubing TD's dumped before the rear! But the guy did it slightly different from how i expected. It's being dropped off at out house tonight, so I'll get pics up then.

But it looks like I'm either going to need to run a shorty oil filter, or possibly even do an oil filter relocation. Does anyone here have info on those two things? I'm doing research and am having a tiny bit of trouble. (I am finding stuff though...)

But expenses are getting a fair bit higher than I thought. Mainly because I told the exhaust guy 'fitment/clearance is MOST important'. He took that for what it's worth, and ended up needing to buy 6 bends at 40 bucks a pop. You guys can do the math on that one. :\ But it's worth it. The lowest point on the entire system is the collector, and he got creative with pipe placement, so I don't think drone will be an issue at all.

Sorry about no pics yet, It started raining about half an hour before the car was dropped off. I'm not worried at all about it sounding nice, though the police might take interest in me! :P

No, we returned that timing set and we were supposed to have received the correct one today, but it didn't come. So now next weekend is our goal, as long as the pushrods get here after we measure the correct length. But as of now the rest of the costs will be things like o2s/extensions, hoses, a new belt, fluids, and whatever it takes to get an oil filter on this thing. Hopefully it'll be a 12 dollar shorty filter, and not a 150 dollar relocation kit!

Update:

Well the front cover is on (a pain), and this week the intake goes back on. And as long as that goes smoothly, the only things we should need to really worry about are routing o2 extensions away from the headers, routing the oil filter relocation kit up to the front, and heat-wrapping the heck out of everything! lol

It'll be nice to have the motor buttoned up so I don't need to worry about moisture getting into anything.

A few things though. The '93 intake is different from the one lloyd sent me, and it almost seems like a.)the fuel rails don't fit properly. and b.)I need smaller bolts to go into the intake. Is that normal? Also, I bought a bbk 58mm TB (per lloyds suggestion), and it came with two throttle cable cams. One is larger and meant for lt4s, and one is smaller and meant for lt1s. does it actually matter which one I use? I don't see how anything would be affected by me using the lt4 one.

loyd sent u a newer style intake. there a better intake. more manifold to port so more air flow and the fuel system is better. look around for some 95, 96 fuel rails i think a 94 is the new style to. i picked some up used that came with the intake. i bought one, then lloyd told me he had em, try giving him a call and see if he has a rail set up for it.
if u use the larger tb cam u will not get full throttle.
