Default kickdown delay

Is a 1.5-2 second kickdown delay normal on 4l60e- the tranny has very good shift firmness, fluid is full and red- all gears and tcc function just fine- but, if I'm at 25-30 mph or on the freeway at 60-65 or so and floor it, there is a delay in the tranny kickdown. it does kickdown every time, but I was wondering about the delay.

From here, it's kinda hard to tell exactly what you're feeling. The auto trans downshifting isn't going to be instantaneous (ooh I think I speled that wright) like downshifting a manual trans would feel. It sounds pretty much "normal" to me.

The PCM has to think a while to figure out what to do, but if the shifts take really long check the 2-4 servo assembly and shift solenoids. You can always down shift manually if you are in a hurry.

Yeah, it's probably not a big deal- sometimes it's almost instantaneous, and other times it delays a little- performance wise the car runs very well- no hesitation in building revs or anything going on there- recently changed plugs and fuel filter. Car doesn't miss or anything like that. It does idle a little lopey-just slightly, but, I figure this is probably normal for this car- It's not my granny's impala afterall.
