Well, I just traded my 70 mini tubbed nova, for what was supposed to be a really nice 94' z28. The car looks awsome. But my problem is that when I hit the gas it sounds like the car is spinning but it isnt. The rpms go up like its spinning but the tires arent moving. NOW if im easy taking off it does just fine and at highway speeds I can put it to the floor and its like a rocket ship. Are z28's supposed to be like this? I have always had older hot-rod typr car no new fancy stuff.
Any help would be great.

wait is it manual or automotaic first of all. Second of all , it might be the belt isn't strong enough to handle the torque of the car so its' slipping? Because I had to get a stronger belt for my engine because it was slipping because of the torque.

 

you mean its not moving at all when you git the gas or it sounds like it should be burning out but its not? sounds like the rear end to me, but even when my rear was stock it would take off like a bat out of hell.

 

I am glad you guys know what you are talking about, because I just got lost. I never knew Camaros were belt driven.

 

The car is AUTO, The car moves but not like I think it should. As for the belt im lost also???The car revs up and trys to take off but it doesnt take the turn the tires over. But like I said if I dont try to take off fast its just fine. ALSO is there any way to get the car to go into 1st gear? The console only says 2nd.

Weak transmission making it slip maybe ?

 

I was thinking that it was either the tranny or rear, but more the tranny but it shifts fine when in drive, but shifting manually it doesnt shift right.

 

somethings wrong man, that isnt normal, is it just hesitating, and then taking off fast,or just going slow no matter what? does it shift into 2nd or cant you get up enough speed?
sounds like either your torque converter, or trans is goin.

 

From a stand still if you hit the gas hard, it sounds like the tires are turning over like a burn out but the arent. and then it takes off but doesnt turn the tires. yes the car shifts flawless into all the other gears. Its like taking off with your foot halfway on the clutch when in a manual car. Is there anyway to shift the car into 1st?

 

i would take it to a trans shop for them to check it out.
