Hypertech Tuner Effectiveness?
I was looking online for a "tuning" device so that I dont need to take my car to a shop to fix the odometer and speedo when i change gear ratios. I found a hypertech tuner and I was wondering what they do exactly and if they are worth the money. I also was wondering if the "performance tune" it comes with does anything.

I had a Hypertech tuning box, and yes you can change out the gear ratios on the computer easily with it. But if you want real horsepower gains from computer tuning, I'd recommend getting it dyno-tuned or talk to Bryan Herter over at PCMforless.com. He's a great computer tuner. If you are worried about downtime, what you can do is find yourself a second computer that can run your car while you are getting your main PCM tuned. The Hypertech didn't do much for the performance in my LT1 but lean it out a bit. I got rid of that box and use Bryan for any computer mods. Take Care.

hypertech is not something you want to get into. if you want to tune yourself youll need a couple cords and some buning equipment. check out what moats has. most guys that cant get a dyno tune done will use a place like pcmforless or lt1pcmtuning.
