i will never be able to afford what i want... but its all used. im not to worried about it though, i just want to learn how to do it. a little more bass would be nice though. Military doesnt pay well, so i have to cut some corners to get what i want. So can i splice the wire and not have to many issues or what?

I know what you mean about the military, but when you make some rank it starts to be a little better. Splice for what? RCA converter or wiring new head unit?

I can see that being done if you feeding a monoamp, but RCA converter/line out converter are made to work with two different signals, one Right, one Left. Sending the same signal through each side won't hurt it, but it's just lazy in my book. If you're going to do it, do it right, exceptions will occur to this rule by necessity, not laziness.

I've always gone for funcionality and appearance first, and then looked at the price. My current cost me close to $800 bucks, but it had everything I could want and more, looked good when installed and was a brand I wanted and trusted. I don't think people should buy what they can afford at the moment, becuase you're just going to upgrade later and then you're out the cost of both. Wait until you can afford what you want and then you're done.
If it's just for subs, then he's either using a 2 channel or mono. Using that application for subs is more than acceptable. However this is car audio, so everyone's experience will result in different ways of handling the application. One thing is for sure, installation is always key to a good reliable audio system. (Of course brand quality matters as well)

Now if he was going for a 4 channel application, then I would go with a new head unit, will have to bypass monsoon amp for that anyways, might as well go with a new head unit.

And I agree, definitely spend the extra coin on something quality. Hack jobs will get you nothing but unreliability and give you and your car a rep of a hack job.

well, i ended up buying a 12in kicker, its all wired up and sounds great. Wired it into the back 4in speaker. It was a pain to hide all the wired and i wired a toggle switch in the ashtray to turn it on and off.

instead of a toggle you can wire it to the radio fuse(or any key on power wire that supplys 12V) that way you wont be cursing in the morning when you realized you forgot to turn the amp off
