Default Speaker install over Monsoon system 02SS

2002 SS convertible:

I would like to know who has put in after market speakers and replaced monsoon speakers
I put in deck no problem but speakers are a problem.
I have awesome 6 1/2s to replace in fron and rear.
Both are components Polk SR6500
Can i drill a hole in carpeted door?
What have you guys done.
The stock speaker grill is square s and flimsy so
cant mount over that.
They really desined this sytem in all ways to make it
dificult to rplace.
Bottom line question is how and where to mount aftermarket 6 1/2 speakers???
Any help appreciated.

let me just start off by saying yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh buddy! ive never heard of anybody who actually has polk sr speakers. u must work at Circuit city. anyways, i have the polk momo components in my camaro and i put the tweeters in the carpet next to the speaker. and for the 6.5" speakers i just took a trim ring and screwed them into the stock location, behind the square grilles. However if u want to go outside of the square grilles all i can say is good luck, because i couldnt think of anyways to do it without it looking like poop. the only thing i can think of is just striaght up screwing the speaker over the square grille and cutting a hole for the magnet.

hey let me know how they sound!

Remove the door trim to replace with a 6 1/2 speaker. The speakers should have come with a ring to adjust to the size difference. Be cafeful taking the door panel off, its not fun when you break a clip.
