Default How Much Timing Chain Slack/Slop

Hi all, How much slop/slack should there be in the timing chain? My 1993 has 150K miles and I dont know if they are stock, but it has about 1/4"-3/8" either way with about a total of 5/8"-3/4" play in it. The Haynes manul says to replace it if there is more than 1" of slack. How much is there in a new set? Should I replace the one I have?

New timming sets will have a little slack. You have 150k on it, huh, change it. I don't care what those moron manuals say, if you have 5/8 or more you should change it.
