yah i know for most part is has to go out botom i guess i have hear of guys going out the top. my problem is will an engine lift get it high enogh to clear the old motor and the new one
You can do it both ways.
From the bottom is faster and that is what the FSM shows, but it can be done from the top also by removing the hood and stripping all acessories off the engine. Either way you need an engine crane.
From the bottom you put the car on ramps, ubolt the engine cradle, disconnect everything attached to the engine, and use the engine crane to lift the front of the car off the engine cradle (you can hook the chain to a strut brace if you added one) , then wheel the whole assembly out from under the car on the front tires.
From the top remove the hood, remove radiator & fans, remove everything attached to the engine, unbolt the motor mounts, and use the engine crane to lift the engine out.
Have fun and enjoy.
