Alright im having some trouble keeping my car cool, iv been looking at some new mods for my 95z28. Its been getting hot and i had a new water pump installed, flush the radiator, but it still gets a little hot, I was wondering if a new slp fan controll switch would help or anything else that i dont know about????

 

The car is designed to run between 180 & 220. Are the fans coming on at 220?

 

no it gets a little hotter before the guages drop, I notice at 240-250 then it drops, but I took it to a local machanic to replace the fan motors that went out at one point in time, Im thinking I should take it back and have him adjust the fans to come on sooner?

 

I have a 93 and she gets hot too I think i am going to start with thermostate and a flush.

 

Just a little FYI...if your engine is getting way hot the first time after a cold start, then the condition of your radiator doesn't have jack squat to do with the overheating, unless there's no coolant in it, or if the neck is plugged completely shut with mud. Both of which I'm willing to bet isn't the case. On a cold start, the thermostat is closed and the engine will heat up to the stats rating, then it opens and cold coolant from the radiator replaces the hot in the block. I'd say either the thermostat isn't working properly, or the temp. sensor is telling the fan go on too late.
