hole in timeing cover

hole in timeing cover

I am useing an electric water pump and nocked the gear in the block for the mechanical pump out. What would be the best way to seal the hole in the cover?

im seeing alot of the guys used jb weld and a quarter. one guy used a soft plug and sanded it down to size.
