Yeah I would think it would have more adverse effects if it were the fuel filter. I think I was hoping for an easy fix. Once the car gets warm or hot the idle does change from a contant steady idle to an idle which goes from a grand and spurts up to 1200 and back down to a grand.

now my car is throwing a po300 which is random cylinder missfire, which that is causing the 02 to throw a code because of the missfire, so now i get to replace plugs and wires.

im sure its not the opti, car has under 40k and i have the newer vented styl, but it could use new plugs anyway

Yeah I just replaced the fuel filter and nothing changed which I thought would be the case. Its really random when it wants to jump or hesitate.

hey check all your spark plug wires because if you have long tube headers they could have burn the spark plug wires. You can turn your car on at night with the lights out and just look at your ignition coils and wire to see if they are arcing if they are then. Make sure none of your wires are lose or breaking apart make sure the you feel them because some times it look fine and then falls apart in your hand.

Replaced the tps and that didnt fix it. I did get to look at the plugs at night and saw that the wires are bad so I will be replacing them and hopefully that fixes the problem.
