Hey guys I have a 94 z28 6spd. When im driving in a constant gear the car will out of no where jump or hesitate like there isnt any fuel and then be fine for a while. I dont know what it could be. Fuel pump, filter, trans, elec, or engine?

The plugs and wires were recently changed within the last couple months. The fuel filter hasnt been changed in a while so im thinking that may be the cause?

does it occur more often in higher gears say around 1700-2100 rpm's?

If you drop to a lower gear, or throw in the clutch and rev does it stop surging?

Mine is an auto 95 Z and I have to delete the EGR (I'm not fixing it) to cure a similar problem. I even have an egr code. I should have done it when I had the tranny out because I could get to the back of the engine easier. Now I have to lay on the motor and use a mirror.

And I'm not doing it right now. Here is where you feel bad for me. it's cold in Florida right now. It's in the 30's at night.

Yeah it does seem to occur right around 2,000 rpms. Not sure if it occurs at higher gears more than the lower gears. My rpms seem to jump also right around 2,000. I am replacing the fuel filter tomorrow or friday so maybe that will do something.

Hey, I moved from the north so I could be warm. This is crazy. I don't miss -10 at all.

think about this, if you stay in a lower gear and drive around 3k or 3500 rpm it works like a charm, correct? if your fuel filter were clogged, don't you think when you were calling for more fuel that a clogged fuel filter would show more adverse effects than at lower rpms??

Now, it never hurts to change the fuel filter as it's a quick job (I just disconnect it and let the fuel drip onto a rag) as it takes a few minutes.

Do you have any type of exhaust leak or vacuum leak? How is it sitting at idle?

Oh, and to Z28pete, I won't be doing the egr this weekend either because it's only suppose to be in the high 40's during the day, brrrrrrr

Damn, I'm going to buy a snuggie
