I'm going to remain OPTImistic 
Long term, I want to replace that whole dumb opti system and go to the 24x system I was shown. But, that's a good chunk of change invested in something like that. Would be beneficial though to run it and have an upgraded pcm as well.

Update and closing the thread for me. New WP, CMS opti, rewired some things, new front seals and oil pan gasket. She runs smooth, no problems as before. So final verdict is the opti was the culprit. Happy with the overall outcome now.

it would be welcome news for people to hear there is a $100 alternative and you don't need to buy MSD
