check out elliotts portworks and see what he has. if interested give him a call and let him know what you have planned. he will set you up with the right combination.

what do you mean "new motor"?

anyway, 400 HP is a pretty moderate goal and can be done with stock internals. the key will be the top end meaning heads and cam. assuming you have all the supporting mods such as headers, catback, cold air intake, gears, torque converter(higher stall).

if i were you and depending on your budget, i'd build a 355

stock crank(re-polished)
scat forged i-beam rods
diamond forged pistons
LE2 heads(lloyd elliott)
a custom grind cam from lloyd
1.6 rockers
pacesetter headers
magnaflow catback
k&n cold air intake
3:73 gears if auto and 4:11 gears if manual
yank ss3600 torque converter(if auto)

that will put you right around the 400rwhp mark and will be reliable as heck. go all forged in case you decide to throw nitrous at it later down the road

you mean an SS hood? or like a trans am hood? the SS hood doesn't flow as well as a
CAI, so if that's what you have, i'd suggest switching to a CAI. the trans am hood is nice though
