i need some help in understanding how to pick a cam/heads. how do i read a cam/heads info. i was thinking bout goin to llyod but goin aftermartket will get me more power. correct? im thinking i might eventually go 383 so id like something i can run now but not have to change once i do the bottom end. so how do i determine what a small cam or a large one? how do i match the heads to them? ill probably order whatever i get from jegs or summit since they r close to me.

Le2 heads are far from p&p
I know a guy who took his le2's off and replaced them with afr 180's and did not gain anything
So for the price of le2 plus custom cam plus matched springs and all the good parts for the price of a set of aftermarket heads don't compare
You get aftermarket you have few options of chamber options because most heads don't come 58cc
So you will have to get them milled. Then you have to worry about springs matching your cam so there's a few extra bones for springs retainers and locks not to mention the cam
Heck I forgot porting cause afr/trickflow actually flow less than le2's
So there are some pro/cons between stock and aftermarket

ok makes sense. i jus understood it to be no comparison between the two as if le2's couldnt come close to producing the amount of power one could get from aftermarket. im jus goin on what i heard cuz i dont know about this stuff

The other thing you have to take into account is the fact that after you add HP, your rear end will break... ATM, I am saving about $6000 for my build. I want LE2 heads and a cam. But I am also going to have to get a new transmission (I'm having my M6 built to hold 600 HP and a Stage 4 clutch) a new rear end, and perhaps the most important and oft neglegeted two parts of building a go fast car: suspension and brakes. If you are building a car that is making 450 HP+, you need to upgrade your brakes. I recommend to the C5 brakes. Which will mean that you will have to get bigger rims. And you will need at least W rated tires. Another $1200.
You could always go with just making the power, but you are gonna either break something the moment you mash the pedal, or you're gonna die when you cant bring your car from 150 to 65 with the stock brakes.
I leaned most of this the hard way, through braking one of my previous cars and getting shunned from another car forum for being a n00b...
Upgrade your suspension and brakes first. Camaro 69 or Craby (don't remember which) told me to check out Strano Performance. they've got some sick stuff. Just suspension and brakes alone will turn your car into a whole other animal.
Good luck and kill Rustanks!!!
