Default help 95 z28 wont go past 3000 rpms

my car was doing fine yesterday till I put about 6 dollars worth of 93 octane in the tank.its driving ok under 2000 but i can have it floored and it will only go to 3000 and starts dropping. its like a force field is blocking my engine from going faster.i just bought the car and havent had time to give it a tune up.

Any time a car starts acting up right after getting gas, bad gas is the first thing to suspect. Try a bottle of gas treatment (Heet type) and put in more gas from a different gas station. Gotta ask too, you didn't accidentally put in E85 or diesel?

Then the gas fill up could just be a coincidence. If you're still driving the car, immediately get out after the next drive and look to see if the cat converter is glowing red at all. A restricted cat is a possibility.
