Heads of a 96 Vette
Wondering if heads off a Vette would be better for port/polishing than my stock heads. Comes with a cam too...not sure on the specs, just says made by TPIS ZZ9X. Guy wants $200 for them.
All righty. I was just wondering because I remember reading somewhere that later heads are easier to port/polish or something like that. And I figured since they came off a Vette, they might be a little more free flowing all ready.
The 96 heads might be better, if they are LT4 heads, a 1996 option. If they're complete, you'll be able to tell by the larger than the LT1 valves, and the 1.6:1 roller rockers. But, if they are LT4 heads, you need to get an LT4 intake manifold, since an LT1 intake won't fit the heads. The LT4 cam is better than the LT1's also.
Well I can't even tell with from the valves or rockers since they're bare heads. I doubt they are LT4 heads. What I do know is, I found some of the cam specs online:
Intake 226 @ .520"
Exhaust 239 @ .558"
112 deg. lobe separation
Not to mention it's built specifically for nitrous or forced induction apps. and not recommended for n/a engines. So probably not going to spend the $200 to get them.
