Default gas pedal resists half way down

this just started happening as this winter. my gas pedal resists about halfway down its normal travel length regardless of what gear Im in or my speed. it kinda feels like something is physically trying to stop the cable travel right at the point where the tranny would downshift and pushing farther gets no engine or tranny response. it will happen for 2-3 days and then i'll be accelerating and I'll feel the pedal just release. 2 days later it resists again.

I have a 96 Z28 automatic. I live in denver so its fairly cold in winter. it does seem to happen more often and with more resistance when its colder.

any advice would be awesome. thanks

Part of your traction control feature pushes your gas pedal back up against your foot. Sounds like that may be malfunctioning on you. When that happens, does a traction light in the dash go on? As normal practice, I always shut my traction control off when driving on dry pavement. Have you tried shutting it off to see if that makes a difference?

I always turn the traction control off everytime i drive. even in snow. its actually easier to drive because I learned last year that when my traction control engages it doesnt disengage even when the pavement turnes dry untill I turn the car off for a while. I will check that.
