Default Fuel Problems.

My 1996 Camaro Z28 is giving me problems. I've posted before about the fuel pump but I was wondering if there is any other things that could cause fuel loss. Like sensors or etc...

Yes. That or your fuel pump is bad. Mine is at 15psi right now and I'm going to replace my fuel pump. If that doesn't solve my problem, I'll look into getting a new fuel pressure regulator.

should at least take the old fuel filter out and dump into clear container from the tank side, to see if gunk comes out. if clean you can reinstall or replace. you can test the fpr by setting up a valve on the return line and see if it will hold pressure with the valve closed. i had a failing fpr, it would pump up to 40 lbs but drop to 0 right away. i clamped the return line (small one) with some wide jawed visegrips. slid the cover up to get to the line where the elements had not hardened it and covered the hose with some cardboard so the steel would not tear into the plastic and after pumping up to 40lbs clamped it. pressure held. now with your pressure as low as it is im thinking fuel pump so im not so sure i would take a chance on breaking your fuel line. that plastic is easy to crack.

I'm not sure on that. Mine is under the intake manifold. I can access it without taking anything apart. You might want to PM craby or Massey and ask one of them. I'm not real familiar with the LT's

you need to take the fuel rail off. not to hard but a little messy when you unhook the fuel lines. if there is any pressure in the system you will need to bleed it off if you can with a fuel pressure tester. there are four bolts that hold the rails down, then you need to pull up to free the injectors. you will need new o rings for the injectors, at least the bottom ones should be replaced and thats mostly if they have not been out in a long time, rubber on o ring get stiff and leak or break after moved. once you get the fuel rail out the rest is easy. would be a good time to have the injectors cleaned and flow tested. doesnt take long or cost much, especially if your close to a injector shop.
