then those valves were not closed all the way or the lifters have blead off some oil. lets see what i can find, be right back. so long as you followed the links aready provided you should at least get them close enought to start. did you prime the oil system before installing the intake. are the lifters new or the originals? i read several different write ups on the lt1 to make sure of any changes that may have been made from the last time i had set lifters.

Not sure how to prime the oil system? everything is original. Just wanted to replace the head gaskets and slap it back together.

ok wasnt sure if the lifters were new. there not dont worry about priming. so if you followed the shbox link you should have the lifters done close enough to start the motor and set them while its running.

so long as the cam lobe is not pushing up on the lifter then the rocker will set close enough to run. best to wait for the intake valve to close all the way, go a tad farther and set but so long as the rocker/lifter has come down and closed the valve all the way you can set that rocker, you dont want to over tighten the rockers or have them to lose.

ok getting things back together cant seem to figure out where a couple things go first thing is on the passenger side of the intake manifold there are two smaller nipples. Not sure where either goes. Think ive got everything else hooked up correctly. Just need to get these figured out and I can start getting it ready to be run. Thanks for all the help so far guys!

One other thing since I have to set the valves while its running Theres no point in putting the valve covers on right? And should I fill it with oil through both heads or just the one that had the oil fill on the valve cover?

May want to look at this. Just make sure to pick the right engine.

you should dump oil on all the rockers then it dosnt matter what side or both. the lt1 does not throw alot of oil but its not hard to remove or install the driver side so put it on and do the passenger side first. i just sat mine on there and made sure is was placed right so it wouldnt hit the rockers.
