Default fans won't come on. Tried everything I know.

1995 Camaro z28.

I replaced Coolant Temp Sensor below water pump
Check both fans and they are working
Checked all three relays and they are working
Checked all the fuses they are fine
Made sure coolant level was full
Fans will not come on even when AC is turned on.
They will turn on if I unplug from Coolant Temp Sensor.
I checked the power to the relays and I have power on the #5 socket when the key is turned on, but no power on the #1 socket when the key is off.

What now?

Thank you in advance for your help.

any chance ur new to the car and dont realize the fans dont kick in till it almost redlines? i raised this question before when i first got my 93 z, troubleshot it for a weekend then someone showed me shoebox. the entire time i simply didnt let it get hot enough. since then i wired a switch. im sure this isnt ur problem but i thought id throw it out there.

nope, they don't kick on when A/C is selected and they should. The fans do however work as is evident when he forces a CEL and they turn on

A fellow on another forum had the same problem. He either just unplugged the ECM fuse or disconnected the battery and the computer reset. The fans worked fine afterwards.

i would just wire a switch in, there is one online somewhere that you can buy that is designed for this. alot of people prefer to have control over their fans anyways

I have unplugged the battery in an attempt to reset the computer (ecm), but that had no affect. I would install a switch, but when the fans are unplugged from the temp control sensor the "service engine soon" light comes on. This will keep the car from passing emmissions. As for the car needing to redline before the fans come on, surely that is not accurate? The redline on the temp sensor in the car is 260 degrees. How long before I have to rebuild the motor with those temps? I did try to code the car with the service engine soon light on, but the computer could not "communitcate" with the vehicle. Yes, the unit I used said it worked on OBD 1&2 computers. Innova 3120 is what i used.

i have a 3140 and it wont scan a 95 either. i think you need to set it up to scann with the obd1 cable and then use this http://shbox.com/1/xraycable.jpg
test the temp sensors http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#ect

either get a programmer or custom tune to lower the "on" setting for the fans. I have my custom tune for 160degree thermostat and the fans come on at the same temp. My car never runs much hotter than 170.
