Default Exhaust/ Intake/ Tune - 1995 Z28

I was just wondering what kind of hp gains I could expect if i got a new exhaust (long tube headers, no cats, new mufflers), new CAI intake, and a custom dyno tune? This is on a 1995 Z28, 6spd with an LT1. Everything else is stock. Also, what CAI and headers/exhaust would give me the most power?

Most LT1 CAI's are about the same, I'd suggest just shopping on ebay until you found a good deal on a K&N, Moroso, or SLP one though. As far as headers, most people say to go with Hooker, they are pretty cheap for what you get. If you want a little higher quality, full custom header, it will probably flow a bit better and fit better, but it'll come at a price premium(I went with Kooks because they have good ground clearance, are all stainless, and are overall good quality).

haha, ya. Your setup is pretty much what I am looking for, except w/o cats cause i live in TN where there are no emissions checks... so ill save money on high flow cats, and use my own high flow cats- pipes! Have you had a tune or chip or anything like that? How much did the moroso CAI and Kooks headers and cat back cost?

Well, I ordered the Headers and Y pipe from www.speed-eng.com (they sponsor the site and probably have some online sales for Kooks stuff, they usually do). I got the headers and Y pipe for $1222, all stainless, but it'd be less for you because you don't need cats, probably like, 200 bucks less or so(I don't remeber how much extra the high flow cat's were). I got the Moroso CAI for $150 off of ebay. For my cat back, I have the stock pipe(I'm going to go 3 inch all the way back when I get the money for some more custom bending stuff...) and then I went to Meineke and had them chop off the muffler and weld me up a few new pipes so I could get the dual tips with out a muffler, they pretty much ripped me off and charged me like, $270 for it(find some place that's more reasonable!). For the tips, I got them for $40 off of ebay for the set, they are resonator tips, so the sound isn't rediculously loud. I installed the headers and Y myself, so I didn't have to pay for installation or anything like that.

Ya, I would be doing all the work myself. So I guess the parts would run me about 1100. How much could I sell the used header/exhaust from the camaro for on ebay. Do you think I could get about 250-300?

I'm assuming you have the whole stock system? In that case, not too much. You probably won't be able to get too much for the cat, 'cause it's used, same with the muffler, 'cause it's stock. You may be able to get scrap metal value for the stainless tubing, but that isn't going to get you much. The manifolds, I got 20 bucks for mine, which is better than scrap metal value for cast iron, so I was happy. I actually still have the contact that wanted the manifolds, he said that he wanted more, so you could possibly arrange something there. He ended up using them on a Camaro dirt track car that requires manifolds...

hmmm... so I prolly wouldn't get much more than 100 for it all. Even with the headers and cats? What if I parted them out instead of all together?

maybe, but again, I know I wouldn't buy a used cat, they go bad and get clogged. And again, the stock manifolds really aren't worth too much.
