i havent read the whole thing but it seems to me that wat your lookin for right now isn't a 383 or 355. sounds to me like you need to do all the bolt ons and see where your at before jumpin into a big project. you may possibly want a cam but i think you should do ALL the bolt ons first then do some suspension and the car will feel lik it has a ton of power and will be good for cruisin.

I am actually thinking of doing the same thing to my 95 z28. i was thinking about throwing in new heads, headers and cam. After reading this post i didnt know anything about being able to bore it out to a 355 or 383 so this is interesting to me. I dont know exactly what im looking for as far head, headers and cam goes. Mine is def. a daily driver but i find it not as powerful as i want so i was wondering what you guys think i should do? part wise. And if you dont mind me asking, what are bolt ons?

headers, 1.6rr, electric water pump, underdrive pulleys, and i cant think of anymore but suspension also helps alot gears and a tune.

I it dosent have too many miles on it, you can throw in a mean cam, roller rockers, bigger intake, injectors and a tune for less than $3500 and it will smoke most any thing you come accoss on a daily basis.

Thanks, i believe my water pump is already electric so i guess all i reall have to do is underdrive pulleys andh headersa and suspension and what not. but to machine, my camaro has 165,XXX miles on it hints the reason why i think its time for my engin to be rebuilt. just figured id throw in new heads headers and cam while im at it. putting in these parts though, am i going to have to upgrade anything else like transmission?

Headers and pulleys is only gonna give you around 40 or so hp and I think I'm overrating that a lil. If she has that many miles personally I would start saving for a complete rebuild. Even a stock rebuild will have plenty more power than a high mileage motor. Also I think Whammer said it already but if you rebuild a stock bottom end and bolt on some nice heads and a big cam, that thing is gonna haul some serious ****!

165k miles is getting up there. if your gonna do a rebuild be sure your ready for it. its alot of money with unexpected things along the way but in the end itll be bad. with added power theres a very good chance the 10 bolt will go and there is always more stress on the trans with more power

Roughly, how much is a stock rebuild? I think I'd like to go that route the more I read these posts and add some bolt-ons. I've been saving up for awhile now so that's not really an issue, I'm just looking for my best options. Thanks!
