Default Engine Over Heating.

I have a 95 Z28. After i got back
from Iraq, i noticed my car started to over
heat A LOT. And this is after i installed
a new Thermostat, Water Pump, Radiator.
So i was thinking it could be the fans are kicking
off. So i wired them so they will turn on continuously
after i turn the car on. Is this the best strategy?
Or should i be doing some thing else?

if you have your fans on continuously your car will run in open loop which will cause your ecm to default fuel and air settings causing your car to run rich. do you have a coolant leak/ coolant level low?? also your temp coolant sensor on your water pump could be bad. the sensor is a thermo resistor which its resistance changes depending on the temp of the coolant.

u can put a manual switch in and turn it on when it gets to warm. changing the temp sensor is the best first action though.

Assuming thre are no mechanical problems, the best strategy would be for you to find out why the fans do not come on when they should and fix the problem These fans were not designed for continuos use and will fail sooner if running them all the time. All you would need is the electrical drawings and a cheap voltmeter. Most problems are due to bad connections, damaged wiring, bad sensor, or bad relays.
