Default Dumb question????

Hello, i bought garret t3 twin trubos for my firebird a couple years ago and i was just told shops charge about 3k to install them so theyre still sitting in my garage, so i though maybe nitrous??? Bought a nitrous kit but never got around to installing the nitrous either and after finding out the hard way how much work it is to find and install a good used lt1 engine i decided no nitrous either, sitting in my garage next to the turbos. I dont really have money to spend but i would like a bit more power, so here is my dumb question???? Is it possible to install a supercharger from a car like a grand prix gtp, or a regal or something like that on an lt1??? Thanks.

What Generation Camaro do you own? In a third gen you really dont have clearance issues like you do in a 4th gen, so you are free to do almost anything you want. You mention LT1 engine which was not available in the 3rd gens.

The Supercharger from the GTP or Reagal T-type are Eaton M90s (for the Sereis II engine) and are mounted on a V6 not a V8. If you could fabricate a lower intake I cant see why they would not work, but they will not bolt on and there is no lower intake available in the aftermarket to mount one to the Vortec or LT1 engine.

Buy a SC kit that works with your engine, one that maybe makes 3 or 4 lbs of boost if you are putting it on a stock engine. OR remove your engine and build it to meet the boost requirements you desire. This is not a project to be taken lightly (the only thing light will be your wallet). You will need to figure out how much boost you want then what is the max compression you can run on high grade gas and not blow the engine up. Get a cam that is cut for the SC and the amount of boost you are looking for, things like Hyper-U pistons or at least Forged are a must and stronger rods. YOu prolly have a 2 bolt main block which is good since you can have a good machine shop turn that into a 4 bolt splayed main block which is alot stronger than the truck 4 bolt block. Let say you are going to build an engine for 14lbs of boost which would get you about 500-600 HP (assuming you build the rest of the engine to match) you would be looking at around $8000-$10000 for the engine plus you would need to make sure the car can take the power so upgrading things like the tranny, diff, brakes, and you will need subframe connectors to boot.

Yea that is alot of cheddar.

Now you will spend about $3K on a SC with 4 lbs or about $3500 on one that can put out 14LBS just depends on how you want to play. Search for superchargers and see what is out there. Quite a few companies make them for the SBC, and you can easily use what ever induction system you want on a 3rd gen since the computer is not tied into the whole car like the T/A is.

The TA is alot harder to SC, there are computer issues, and clearance issues, just to name afew.
