Default Custom exhaust opinions

Im getting long tubes and an off road y pipe, and I already have a flowmaster 40 series muffler. So I was thinking it would be more cost effective to just have a shop weld in a 3 inch straight pipe instead of buying a cat back kit. Would this be just as good?

It all depends on what you want. If you want tone and a deep sounds, get good performance cats. If you are like me and think louder sounds better, then I would go 3" straight pipe. Since you got an ORY, I'm assuming you don't have emissions or go to a lick-n-stick and don't care about emissions lol I don't have emissions so I have headers and hi flows true duals with 3" straight pipe all the way the back (no mufflers). It's loud but I love it! In the end, it's what you want.

Yeah, im not running a cat, my question was, would running a 3 inch straight pipe in to my muffler (which I think is 2.5 inlets) make much difference as compared to a cat back kit which I think the muffler has 3 inch inlets?
