Cooling question

Only reason im asking is because search option wont work on my comp.
I have a 93 z28 and the redline mark on the temperature gauge is almost reached if im driving around in city traffic but if i get on the interstate with speeds above 50 it cools back to about 200
im worried about pushing that 240+ which i hit pretty quick ne help thanks for

Make sure you have enough coolant in the system, too. Crack the bleeder screw and open the radiator cap. Fill it up if it's low. 9 times out of 10, overheating is caused by not knowing how much coolant is in the system. I had the same problem. I thought my levels were just fine. Come to find out, it was nearly bone dry, due to a parasitic leak at the water pump. After replacing that and filling the system back up, I'm in city traffic and she's holding just below 200F.
