Default Console shift plate loose.

Got my console back in and everything functions (e-brake, shifter and light to). But the the shift plate pops up when I go to Park. It sits down when I put it down but the rear of it pops up when shifter goes into Park. It's like I'm missing a little plastic tab somewhere but I don't see any broken stub. Both tabs in the back are there as well as both tabs up front.

Any ideas?

try cleaning it and use some restore stuff on it. helps to let the pieces slide.

Oh I cleaned it pretty good. Used something called Formula (similar to Armor All) and it slides as good as ever. Its like its missing a tab some where or maybe it has shrunk up some while the center console hasn't or at least not as much.

went and looked, mine has three at each end. also could be the shift cable needs adjusting, shouldnt if you have not done anything with transmission.

Well I looked things over again and noticed the boneyard shift plate I replaced my original with has some visible differences. Also I don't recall what years of 4th Gen the junkyard console and shift plate came from.

The plastic is to slick now to use tape now that I treated it with protectant so I tried an electrical terminal lug wedged in the front of the shift plate and it holds well enough. I plan to replace that lug with tiny black zip ties (2) for ease of R&R. Really don't want to use a small wood screw as it looks too bubba though it would be hard to notice.

That should be good enough until I find a console & shift plate combo that fit correctly.

Thx.
