confused need starter help
every starter that i find for a 93 LT1 has straight across bolt patern, but my starter and engine block has the staggered bolt pattern
what's up with that, why the difference in bolt patterns

they all have a short bolt and a long bolt if thats what your talking about. the gen 2 motor does not have a offset bolt pattern. but then some strange stuff went on in the factory at times. would like to see picuters. is this what your looking for only in a 153 tooth Powermaster 3510 - Powermaster OEM-Style High-Torque Replacement Starters - Overview - SummitRacing.com

must be a truck starter. here is the only one i could find with 153 tooth staggered. looks to be a universal starter.

I have to ask to get it out of the way....you're sure your engine is an LT1?
Even if someone drilled the block to accommodate the staggered starter (to use a 168 tooth flywheel/flexplate), the original straight mount hole would still be there.

Just because it's a Z28, and the car originally came with an LT1, doesn't mean that's what's in there now.
Plus, the engine's been out, what was put back in? How about some detailed pictures of the engine?
