no did not do anything with the timing chain, but that is something i have thought about... i know you cannot adjust the timing, and it does pop and carry on sometimes when trying to start... so i guess that could be.. how hard is that to get to in these engines?

 

no need to get "into it" per se, you just gotta pull the front of the motor off, which can try anyone's patience. budget a Saturday for it, and don't forget to upgrade while you're in there.
