Clutch and bolt on ?'s for a newbie. . . .
I realize this is kindof a preference thing so really I am just looking for advice. This is my first 6 speed v8 car and I love it but the clutch feels kinda squishy on hard shifts unless I granny shift then it grabs hard. I don't want a clutch that's going to tear up my trans and I'm not looking for a stock onre either. The car will prob never have 400 or 500 hp either so I want to stay around $400 for the kit. I am also about to do exhaust, CAI, wheels and tires, so any helpful advice or what you've had good luck with helps a great deal. Thanx for reading my thread. . . . .
yea check out ram they have nice clutch's for cars not makin crazy power spec has a nice line zoom and centerforce. you probably will just need an upgrade. but if your not goin insane with power i believe pepboys has a oem replacement that has a lifetime warranty and they'll replace it if it goes bad just an idea.
I bought a custom ceramic clutch that a shop makes and it was so tight the first time I drove it I killed it a few times. Just driving around was a pain though it grabbed so fast you would get a lot of lug some times. A duel friction would hold all you want and are a lot easier on the neck.
Dont sweat the m6 its one tough booger...ive been putting 515 hp to it with no problems for probably 90 + launches. I like the spec clutches. A stage 3 will be plenty, last for a long time. Steer clear of Hays..they are stock reproductions :-D. You can also get the six puck in that for firmer grabbing. Break it in. As far as other bolt ons, you should get an idea of how far you wanna go? Start with exhaust? May i warn u that headers will almost always require an engine pull. They wont fit easily. I have a magnaflow exhaust with pacesetter headers and y pipe. Sounds good but i like the loudmouth slp too. Just listen to a few and make a choice based on what u like. Is this your daily driver? or do u have time to go to work on it?
