Default Car won't stay running

I have a 1995 Z-28 that I cannot get to stay running. I crank the engine and it starts and then it dies. The longer it sits, the longer it will run, but no longer than 2-3 seconds. I can hear the fuel pump (I think) prime when I turn the key, I don't think it is a fuel filter since I had no loss in power or hesitation before this all started. I just changed the fuel filter not too long ago. (maybe 9,000 miles) I assume it is some kind of fuel issue since I have always believed ignition problems (readpti spark) are either all the way on or all the way off. The car had sat for about 4 months with double the stabil in the tank for the long offseason. I assume bad gas would not cause this type of a problem. Any help pointing me in the right direction is GREATLY appreciated!

Step one, have you scanned for any codes? As it is a '95, you most likely have an OBDII connector, but an OBDI computer. So a standard scan tool won't work, and a scan tool for a 1994 or earlier won't connect. There are tools out there that will pull codes on it, they just aren't the one's you normally borrow from Autozone.

You said that it sat for a while. Has it been acting like this since you took it out of storage? Or was it running normally this year and then this happened? Have you checked the fuel pressure?

The opti can cause all sorts of problems, but I haven't heard of one causing a car to start and then die.

The car ran great for about an hour after I pulled it out of storage. I have not scanned for any codes because the "service engine soon" light does not come on so I did not think any codes had been tripped. I looked at the stickies at the top and searched the forums but did not find my particular issue anywhere. I will see if I can find a fuel pressure gauge now that I know where to check. Thank you!

Not every code will throw a check engine light. It is always a good idea to check for any stored codes whenever you suspect a problem.
