Now where would a mechanical gauge hook up? To the port on the back like the sender for gauge? Or is there another place. I don't mind tying things really. I'm not a great diagnoser but I can work on just about anything. And is there a oil gauge tool or should I just buy an aftermarket gauge with the oil line?

A mechanical oil gauge is a mechanical oil gauge, it works off of pressure through the line to the gauge, not from a switch/sending unit.
It doesn't get any more accurate than that. Electric gauges suck by comparison!

Might as well remove your existing oil pressure switch in back though. You're going to have one of two results after checking the oil pressure mechanically:
1) You're going to find that your oil pressure is in fact way low, which means you have engine problems and are going to have to start taking the engine apart.
2) You're going to find that your electric gauge has been lying to you and the oil pressure really isn't low.
The next natural thing you would do, is replace the pressure switch. Oh how convenient is that, you already have it out.
I know you said you just replaced the switch, but new ones can be faulty. Also, were you registering low pressure before you replaced the old switch?

I think that we're avoiding the obvious. The visual oil flow gauge saw no oil coming up with the valve cover gaskets off. Anything above idle with the valve covers off and my LT1 makes a mess (which I make junior clean)

The original motor read oil pressure, the motor now I stated and the thing pegged to the right, so that's why I replaced it. If it had sat at 0 I wouldn't have ran it as long as I did. So yes I replaced it cause the one on this motor was bad
