Default Cam question

While looking for a good cam for my 95 Z28 I seen that some cams were said to be computer controlled compatible and some were not. If the cams are not compatible does the mean they won't work with my LT1?

I'm having trouble picking out a cam as well. I'll probably just end up getting a custom ground cam and tell whoever i get it from exactly what i want so it's right the first time. But, if somebody knows about something that's on the market now that'd be great. So far i've got 52MM TB, dual exhaust with long tube headers, changing the gears from stock to 3.42, and i want to put in 1.6 rocker arms and new valve springs when i get the cam swapped. Any help would be appreciated.

I BELIVE THAT COMPUTER CONTROLLED COMPATIBLE JUST MEANS THAT IT WILL WORK WITH THE STOCK TUNING, IF NOT THEN U'LL ALSO HAVE TO GET A CUSTOM TUNE... U DONT PLAN ON DOING HEADS AS WELL THO?

I'm putting off on the heads until late winter or early spring. I'm just doing what I can with the money I have for now. I want a cam with a noticeable idle(not super aggressive) and I figure that should be ok with the gears as far as low end power. I want to stay with the stock converter too because it is after all a daily driver right now. Any ideas on a cam that would kick the power up a bit without sacrificing alot of driveability?

For best results heads and cam should be purchased as a matched set and have similiar flow characteristics. If you are new at this game, contact cam and head companies & see wht the reccomend. You can also try someone like Lloyd Elliot, wh wil port your heads and provide a custom ground cam. http://www.eportworks.com/
