Default Cam question

I'm curious to what the max valve lift is on stock LT1 heads, or would that be determined by the stock springs. I have the iron heads from a caprice on mine, which i don't care for though. But anyway, how far can you go with a cam?

i think the 93 has a 460 lift with longer springs stock so to change to something thats going to be noticeable will require better springs.

stock springs can only handle the stock cam. just putting in better springs and 1.6 rockers will increase your horsepower. but new springs are a must when doing a cam swap

OK thanks. I'm thinking about atleast a .550 lift so I'm trying to figure out what all i'll need. Gonna get some parts together and hopefully start on it in the next couple of months. Any ideas on some cheap heads until I can afford some really good ones? I don't want to use the iron ones.

^^^speaks the truth there. just get some aluminum heads off of a camaro and call it a day if you don't want the iron heads
