cam position sensor

is there a camshaft position sensor on an lt1? and if so where

Kinda...It's housed within the opti. There's a high resolution sensor and a low resolution sensor that can determine the degree of rotation of the crank to 1 degree at any given time. From this the PCM can predict the position of the camshaft, but it doesn't have a separate sensor for it.

and i suppose that if that one goes bad the opti has to be changed

well figured out that i blew my motor up so im just going to rebuild it so i will have fun here in the near future

"blew up" as in? You threw a rod through the block? You spun a bearing? You blew a head gasket?

spun a bearing i think ill know more when i get it out and apart prolly mid week or so

Alright, spun bearings are unfortunately common on the LT1, hopefully there wasn't any other damage to the bottom end.

nope just spun bearings all of them all 8 rod bearings so im might be in market for a new crank is that a one or two piece seal
