A/C problem
ive heard that it takes some power to spin the ac and if ya take it out and put in just a free moving pully the engine doesnt have to work that little bit so you get a little extra horse power... any one got pics of how to do this?
in 1320 feet (quarter mile) one hundred pounds is about a tenth of a second in elapsed time. which is about a car length. 20 pounds (ur a/c) would be 2 hundreds of a second. 2 hundreds is more than a bumper at the finish line. races are won by thousands everyday...i'd take it off. then again i'd wish it was on there everyday in july/aug. also take it a couple steps further, if ya could find 5x20 pound objects that would make your 13.09 a 12.99.
i wasnt really plannin on keapin it cause its going bad... i would just go out back and throw it on a 5 foot high scrap metal pile...
sm15: that is an awsome analogy and im with ya because of that reason too i want to lighten the car as much as possible while doing work to it. however it does get slightly hot in ohio durring those months but thats why they invented T-Tops

The A/C only uses power when you have the A/C on or the Defogger on, otherwise the clutch is not engaged and the pulley acts as an idler pulley. If you use Pete's method you will never be able to actuate the solenoid that engages the clutch, and therefore no matter what climate setting you choose, the A/C cannot engage.
If you're hell bent on removing it for weight savings I highly recommend you start removing sound insulation as well as any extra seats, speakers, carpeting, door cards, interior trim etc.

alright im not really hell bent on weight removing but why not get rid of something that doesnt work and isnt neaded... i mean it cant hurt... but how much weight does a back seat delete drop? how much does those back seats wheigh?
I just personally think that it will be more trouble than it's worth, but I've already stated that.
Removing the rear seat can probably save you about 20lbs. Same with the stereo equipment, speakers and amps are heavy.
