Default A/C problem

would it be easier to do an a/c delete kit or go to the local autozone and see if they have a belt that i can replace the stock so i dont use the a/c

its been squealing when i turn the car on and it doesnt goo away and i want to get it taken care of before it locks up... i dont want to recharge it or replace it cause i hardly ever use it. i know it will make my defrost not work as well but im not to concerned.

Do it the easy way, just turn the AC off, or pull wires off the compressor. The clutch will stay released and act as an idler pulley & no more belt squeals. Or, put in a new belt and new belt tensioner.

The only benefit that you're going to get with the delete pulley as opposed to Pete's method is a very small amount of weight savings. The compressor isn't really all that heavy, and neither is the condenser. The hardest part is going to be removing the condenser, so look into that and decide if shedding less than 20lbs is worth it to you.

well i have alot of time on my hands durring my winter break from school so time isnt really bothering me... how hard is it to remove? does it take removing the engine and stuff or can everything be reached by getting under the car or laying on the block?... how much hp do ya get from an a/c delete? cause i heard you get some decient amount but i could have heard wrong...

it can be done from laying on the ground. but i dont see how you could gain any hp from looseing th a/c, like silver said, you would just gain some weight loss.
