bose system

Default bose system

I just got a '93 Z28 a few weeks ago with the bose sound system in it and im wondering where i can get the adapter to make an aftermarket headunit work with it.

well what is it called cause i tried to get it from best buy and they gave me the wrong thing

I think it's called a "factory amp interface"

Had the same problem and did some research and so far I've found two options you can do.

1) Go out and buy new speakers and just wire them straight from the HU to the speaker. This is what I did because I plan on adding rear speakers (mine was only optioned with the two door speakers and the sub) along with amps and two 12" subs.

or

2.) Go out to your local Walmart, or ebay, or another auto electronics store and find the Scosche Fai-3a, it should be a blue rectangular device. This converts the signal properly and allows you to keep your stock speakers.

Option 1 is more expensive, but if you plan on putting aftermarket speakers, subs and amps, to me it makes more sense and is easier. But if you plan on keeping the original speakers and sub, then option 2 is your cheaper and more sensible method. Just all depends on what you're going to do.
