I cant seem to free the fitting in the back of the head. There is very little clearance but I can get the ratchet on but then i dont have very good leverage on it to break the fitting free.

Any ideas?

you need to be able to clean the surfaces and cylinders. if damaged the replacement is 100 bucks new here. Coolant Crossover Line, 93-97 LT1 Camaro, Firebird i think i have one around here somewhere too if you need it i can look.

I've seen new crossover lines on flebay for $75 even.
You really need to get the heads off. Not only to clean them, but it would be a very good idea to take them to a machine shop and have the surfaces checked for true.
Sometimes a blown head gasket is because of a warped head. Sometimes the blown head gasket causes the engine to overheat, and then warping the head.

well it looks like I will have to cut the line in order to get the head off. I just dont see any way around it at this point, unless I pull the engine which Id rather not do. If you guys have or see any cheap cross over pipes let me know, i can pay through paypal asap. thanks for your help!

Still havent gotten the intake off either. Not sure how to disconnect that hose. In the pic posted is shows two bolt but I dont think m,ine looks like that. It feel different as does the metal hose- its got ridges like those black tubes to direct rain water from gutters.

Oh, I didn't know you didn't get the intake off yet, that would make access to the crossover pipe easier. Which hose is holding you back?

its on the back of the intake, about a the diameter of a quarter. Goes down and towards the passenger side. Its a metal hose fyi other wise I would be having so much trouble haha

lol, a metal hose is a called a "pipe"! Couldn't figure why a hose would be holding you up. Oh man!
Is that hose-pipe part of the EGR setup?
